What I played this week not on stream

I always talk about Pando Personal Time games (the PPT) on stream, but I try not to make that the focus when we are playing a game LIVE on camera! So here is a little posty-post with my thoughts on the games I’ve currently been playing.

NEO: The World Ends With You

I was a pretty darn big fan of the original DS game, so I was so excited after so many years for this game to finally get a sequel. It’s taken me forever to get around to actually finishing this game though, as I didn’t start it until late and it seemed like a ton of other games were getting in the way. Like with the original, it’s taken me a bit to get back into the the battle system and figuring out HOW it all works, but once it clicks, it’s addicting!

If I just mainlined this game, I’d probably have finished it long ago. I’m pretty overleveled for everything! I do mess with the difficulty and artificially lower my level for stuff to get bigger rewards but I’m definitely rolling through most of the major boss fights without much issue. But I need to collect everything! They have so many records and charts and pins and such, it’s fun to try to get them all. I’m pretty resigned to not 100%’ing this game, but I’m definitely having a lot of fun getting everything I can.

It is very long, though I think I am in the final 3rd of the game now. Lots of interesting things have happened and I’m suspicious I still have one more party member to add to the team before we are done! Really enjoying it!

Pokémon Café ReMix

I tried this game when it was initially released on the Switch and said, “Ugh, this is a phone game through and through” and dropped it pretty quickly. Nintendo revamped the game (it’s still VERY much a phone game) and I got curious again, I mean, c’mon, it’s so FLIPPIN’ cute! But this time, I grabbed it where I believe it should be played: on my phone. I mean, it’s free! So in my downtime, when I don’t have tons of time to devote to a game or I’m half-watching something and can’t also focus all my energies into an actual game game, I bust open Pokémon Café ReMix! I think it’s pretty fun – swirling my finger across my iPhone screen and making the ‘Mons happy is just a nice time. I really cannot overstate how adorable this game is though – I wish I had a real Pokémon Café to visit. The burdens of our real lives…

Final Fantasy XIV

I don’t have a good screenshot of Pando Ishy to put here but you all know my adorable blue dragon lady by now. We finished EndWalker so we are now just enjoying the simple things. I haven’t actually had a ton of time to play this week, but I *have* played it a bit. My current plan (and it’s probably a bad plan) but my current plan is to keep levelling up each class by 10. I’m sure I’ll eventually have to start hopping into roulettes to get there, but I’ve been sticking to fates, quests, and hunting log to get me there so far. It’s simple, it’s fun, and I like the gathering stuff so that’s neat? It’s like a whole game was waiting for me once I beat it! Oh boy!

Anyway, that’s been my week in games, not counting stream stuff. I guess I never mentioned Picross 6 or Wordle but you know what those are. You can only do so much with that. Have a great week!

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Happy Pokémon Day, everyone!

Today, Nintendo released a Pokémon Presents, which is basically a Pokémon Direct. They had a smattering of updates to announce for currently released games (I really need to start Brilliant Diamond and pick up Legends: Arceus…), but they also announced the next full games: Pokémon Scarlet and Violet!

They look like they took a lot of ideas from developing Legends: Arceus with the big open world and the dream of pocket monsters just strolling the land. I love the way it looks! I haven’t read much reaction to this nor do I know if Nintendo/Game Freak have released more information since announcing the game today, but if I was a guessing Pando, I’d say this is a Spanish inspired area? Lot’s of warm colours and castles and coastal areas… that’s Spain, right?

Anyway, I really wasn’t expecting the games to be announced for release this year (late 2022). There is…a lot of games. I still am catching up on 2021 games (and in some games, 2020 games – Ghosts of Tsushima). I’ll just be over here, drowning in video games, folks! What a way to gooooo.

SMT: Soul Hackers 2

Soul Hackers 2

I never played Soul Hackers, but this announcement made me finally go out and add it to my 3DS collection.

I don’t know why I didn’t buy Soul Hackers initially. I remember looking at it and deciding NOT to buy it. But now looking at the reviews, I have no idea why I made that decision. But here we are, and now it’s mine. When will I play it? Hopefully before August when Soul Hackers 2 comes out! BUT!!! There are 3000 games to play at any given time.

It looks good though. Wild it’s not coming out on the Switch (I actually thought this would be an exclusive) but I’ll play it wherever! Wanna talk about Soul Hackers 2 more? Join the discussion in our Discord!
